Residence Life Student Leader

Transform Your Experience at 糖心vlog视频

Applications to a be 2026-2027 Residence Life student leader (Resident Assistant, Student Program Coordinator, HUB Director, and HUB Chair) will be open from November 3 – January 4.

In years past, these positions were listed separately. This year, all four positions will be listed on one application, and candidates will go through one interview process.

Available Positions:

Resident Assistant (RA) - The Resident Assistant position is one of the most highly sought-after leadership opportunities at 糖心vlog视频. Our past RAs report leaving the position with a wide array of skills, connections, and memories gained from their involvement in their residential communities. They include lasting and meaningful connections with fellow students, staff, and faculty, preparation and discernment for their future careers, a greater understanding of and pride in the greater 糖心vlog视频 community, enhanced leadership skills and an appreciation for servant leadership roles, the opportunity to mentor and be a resource for other students, and a desire to grow personally and be their best selves.

Student Program Coordinator (SPC)
– The Student Program Coordinator of each community leads their respective Programming Board. Their responsibilities pertain to maintaining and managing building culture, Community traditions, Commons Cup engagement, and programmatic advising. This position is expected to be regularly and thoroughly engaged with the students and programs within the community while reporting to the supervisory discretion of the Residential Community Director (RCD) of the Community. SPCs must live in their assigned community.

HUB Directors
– The Housing Unification Board (HUB) is a student organization made up of eight student directors from different communities across campus. The HUB brings students together by hosting the large-scale events that make up the Commons Cup and provides avenues for students to advocate for their residential communities by applying for programmatic and building improvement funds. While these leaders are required to live on campus, they do not have to live in a specific community. Each HUB Director has specific job functions.

HUB Chairs
– Each community has a HUB Chair who liaises between the community and the HUB. The HUB Chair is responsible for encouraging community participation in Commons Cup events, including intramurals, and coordinates Hall Improvement Fund (HIF) and Community Development Fund (CDF) submissions to the HUB. HUB Chairs must live in their assigned community.

  • A one-page resume in a PDF format
  • Short essay questions

Preparing a quality application and resume takes time. We recommend getting started early and taking advantage of resume review services through the Hegi Family Career Development Center.

Please note that the application is due before you return to campus for the Spring semester. We strongly recommend you check that you will have a good internet connection in advance or complete the application before you leave campus.

Application Process

All applicants must have a 2.5 semester and cumulative 糖心vlog视频 GPA and be in good standing with the University. If you are currently on conduct probation, deferred suspension, or suspension with the university, you will not be eligible for an interview.

Further the RA position requires a higher standard regarding conduct. Any other conduct violation including a Call for Help, Conduct Warning, or Informal Warning will be considered on a case-by-case basis. If you have been found responsible for violating any University policy or RLSH community standard, you may be asked to write a letter explaining the situation and what you have learned since the incident. Those candidates will be considered for interview eligibility on a case-by-case basis. Recent violations may also preclude you from the interview process.

Residence Life student leaders must be at least sophomores (2nd year students), enrolled in 糖心vlog视频 as a full-time student, and have completed at least one semester at 糖心vlog视频 by the time they begin the position. They are not required to have previously or currently live(d) on campus.

After completing the application, RLSH will perform grade and conduct checks to determine if you are eligible for an interview. If you are eligible, you will be offered an interview.

Interviews will be held from February 2-6. If you are eligible for an interview, the student leader recruitment committee will reach out to you after the application deadline to schedule a date and time. Each interview will last approximately 50 minutes. Candidates will first meet with two members of a leadership team (FIR, RA, etc.)  for about twenty minutes. Next, the candidate will meet with two Residential Community Directors for about 20 minutes. Please dress in interview appropriate clothing (e.g., no athleisure wear) and arrive at least 5 minutes before your scheduled interview.

We recommend using the STAR method when answering interview questions.

We believe that a Residential Commons should be a home base for students. For that reason, our priority is to keep students in their Residential Commons. However, there are times when students are hired for Residential Commons other than their own based on the overall needs of our campus community.

Candidates will be notified of final decisions on February 23.

Frequently Asked Questions

Because Orientation and RA training dates overlap, you cannot serve as both an RA and an Orientation Leader at the same time. If you have been accepted as an Orientation Leader and signed an agreement for that position, you will not be eligible for an RA position. However, you can apply to be an RA alternate. If selected as an alternate, you would then be eligible for hire after you have completed all of your orientation responsibilities.

No, these are 10-month positions.

On the application, you will indicate whether you’d like to work in your commons, upper-division communities, or both. While we try to place people in their own Commons, we also take campus wide needs into consideration.

If you are currently on conduct probation, deferred suspension, or suspension with the University, you will not be eligible for an interview. Any other conduct violation including a Call for Help or Conduct Warning will be considered on a case-by-case basis. If you have been found responsible for a policy violation, but were given a lower standard sanction, you will most likely be asked to write a letter explaining the event. Your eligibility for an interview will then be considered on a case-by-case basis.

This varies for each community, but usually 1-2 nights a week.
